Intra-plant Logistics

In Calvert, we implemented what’s called a “Drop and Go” method to transport slabs and coils between plants. This method entails drivers safely dropping pallets and trailers without leaving their tractors, optimizing operational efficiency, eliminating driver wait time, and reducing labor and idle time. This method is further enhanced with the use of a highly scalable pallet system that’s custom-made for every need, including various trailer and pallet attachments for efficient service additions, such as scrap and charge bucket transport. In addition, this method reduces fuel consumption and thus CO2 emissions.
